Nice Occasions was born almost concurrently with the birth of my first child in the summer of 2007.
It didn't take long after the birth of my son for me to realize that being away from home for eleven hours each weekday due to my job wasn't going to work. In the summer of 2007 when my son was born, I took a short maternity leave and then went back to work full-time in September.
My first day back to work started with me waking my son at 5:45 am to send him off to the babysitter's. This moment was the beginning of a long search for a solution that would allow me to be home more. After failing to convince my boss to allow me to work part-time at my current job, I knew there had to be better way. I needed to leave my full-time job and start my own company where I could set my own hours and be with my family more.
Two things helped make the decision to create Nice Occasions very easy. First, I am a graphic designer with ten years of industry experience. Second, in 2006 I planned my own wedding, including designing/producing all of my own favors, invitations, cards, keepsake gifts and a DVD photomontage slideshow. Designing the materials for my wedding was one of the most satisfying and enjoyable things I've ever done as a graphic designer! I received such positive feedback that I started doing more design and multimedia production for family and friends’ parties and events.
Helping people plan their special occasions is both fulfilling and exciting. I love being a part of the special moments in people's lives. I hope Nice Occasions can help you add that little something extra to your special occasion!
